My First Post-Eurovision Fashion Review

Yes, I know the Eurovision Song Contest is typically about the best song rather than the best outfit but I just cant’t help silently (or not so silently) judging the clothing choices on stage so here we go:

eurovision latviaLatvia:

I feel like this dress Aminata is wearing could have been beautiful without the black part at the top but as it is I just think there is too much going on with the combination of fabrics and colours and I’m left feeling kind of confused: is that pattern a tattoo or is it part of the dress? Other than that, I love the bottom part of the dress and her hair is looking beautiful. Out of 10, I would give the ensemble a 5!

I love how simple and modern Morland and Debrah Scarlett are looking. I think the contrast of black and white works really well and I really like Debra’s combination of a crop top and a matching long skirt as a refreshing alternative to a classic gown. This together with her beautiful red curls makes the whole look seem somewhat effortless and formal at the same time.

eurovision swedenSweden:

I think Mans Zelmerlow just looks so cool and casual and compared to some of the other contestants he actually looks really comfortable not only in his clothes but generally on stage which is probably the main reason I chose to include him in this review: It actually looks like he is wearing his own clothes that he knows look good on him if you know what I mean?! Again, I love how simple and non-over-the-top he looks and yet the leather-type trousers make the whole outfit more dramatic for the performance.

Georgia:

Is it a bird? Is it a plane? No it’s… wait are you sure it’s not a bird because those huge feathers attached to Nina Sublatti’s shoulders say otherwise. The whole outfit just isn’t working at all for me and she looks like one of the Grounders in the 100 but then maybe that’s what they wanted seeing as her song is called “Warrior”.

eurovision lithuaniaLithuania:

Okay, I’m not going to lie: while everyone else was talking about the kissing going on in the background, I was still thinking about Monika Lynkyte’s dress: This was my favorite outfit of the show. Yes, it’s kind of, um, unique? and sparkly but I genuinely love it. I think it looks really cute and all the different colours work really well together and I appreciate that Vaidas Baumila’s outfit matches by colour but generally isn’t as striking, allowing Monika’s dress to stand out more.

Well, that’s it with my review of the fashion at the Eurovision Song Contest.

All my love,
